Emily and Nick Counts are a husband-and-wife duo starting a new Montessori School in New Church.

The school, Rhyme and Reason Academy, opens on Aug. 14 and will host students in first through sixth grades.

Emily Counts is a fully certified elementary Montessori school teacher who started teaching at Montessori schools in college.

Montessori schools use hands-on lessons that allow students to learn at their own pace and follow their interests.

Rhyme and Reason Academy will be the second Montessori school on the Eastern Shore, and the first in Accomack County.

“I love teaching and I love Montessori,” said Counts.
