George Cooper

Mr. George Allen Cooper walked through the pearly gates and into the open arms of his parents and sister on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Born Oct. 11, 1961, in Silver Springs, Md., and raised in Southside Chesconnessex, he was the son of the late Irvin Edward “Eddie” Cooper and Jean Ward Cooper.

Growing up, George was as stubborn and rowdy as they come — traits that would prove invaluable following a tragic car accident at the age of 21, which required more fight than most have to give. In his prime, George was the life of the party and was always on the move.

He attended Onancock High School but preferred spending his days crabbing on the bay to sitting behind a desk. Those who knew George would never say he was a saint, but you’d never find a more loyal, loving human being. After more than 40 years in long-term care, George’s family finds comfort in knowing he is free from pain and walking the streets of gold.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Jean Cooper Baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Hope Elizabeth Wallace, of Parksley; his brother, Steve Cooper and his wife, Karen, of Parksley; his sister, Colleen Cooper Bylenski and her husband, John, of Melfa; and nephews and nieces, Craig Cooper, Jason Cooper, Tracy Marsh Johnson, and Crystal Marsh, as well as their families.

A service celebrating George’s life and homegoing will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, June 21, at 11 a.m., with Pastor William Jefferson officiating. The family will gather for private interment at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
