Ms. Patti Ann Merritt passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Md. She was born on April 12, 1950, to the late Newman and Mary Ann (Jones) Merritt of Chincoteague Island.
Patti is survived by her sister, Jane Daisey; her niece, Sara Daisey; her great-niece, Cora Gallardo; and several cousins, including Linda Judge, Rick Matthews, Joan Murden (Cliff), and Fred, Royce, Jeff, and Daryl Jones. She is also remembered by her lifelong friend, Ross Deitch, Leslie Watson, and her very devoted friend, Walter Ladish, who faithfully visited and cared for her until the end of her life.
She was predeceased by several cousins, including J.F. McAllen, with whom she grew up like a brother. Other predeceased cousins include Calvin and Johnny Matthews, Greg Merritt, and Debbie Merritt.
Patti was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, completing crosswords, exercising, and caring for her beloved animals, which included several horses and dogs.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at Salyer Funeral Home on Chincoteague Island.

Patti’s loved ones extend their gratitude to the staff at Tawes Nursing Home for their caring and compassionate support, as well as to Coastal Hospice, who assisted during her final days.
