Mrs. Renee Marie Shoff, 71, devoted wife of Richard Allen Shoff II and loving mother to Daniel and Nichole, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at her home in Onancock, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on July 24, 1953, in York, Pa., Renee was the daughter of Jack and Flo Ness. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, bringing her comfort and strength. As a teenager, she met the love of her life, Richard Shoff, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Married for 52 years, they walked hand in hand through life, and true to their love, Richard remained by her side as she passed through heaven’s gates.

With amazing speed and skills for counting money, Renee began her career as a bank teller for Southern Pennsylvania Bank, later known as M&T Bank. After nearly a decade, she and Richard started their family, and she fully embraced her role as a dedicated mother.

Despite being a terrible cook, Renee made sure her family was always well cared for. She was an active den mother for the Cub Scouts and had a great appreciation for the outdoors. Renee always enjoyed a family boat ride, especially when it included crabbing for Chesapeake blue crabs. As her children grew older, she worked part-time at Weis Markets so she could continue making her family her top priority.

In 2014, Renee and Richard retired to the Eastern Shore of Virginia and bought a home in the lovely hamlet of Onancock, where they found joy in the beauty of the creeks and bay and the peaceful surroundings. Her faith remained central to her life, and she was an active member of Onancock Baptist Church, attending classes and deepening her spiritual journey until the very end.

Renee is survived by her husband, Richard Shoff; children, Nichole White and husband, David, of Pottstown, Pa., and Daniel Shoff and wife, Shelly, of York, Pa.; sisters, Teila Geesey and husband, Gerry, of Dallastown, Pa., Karen Ness and husband, David, of Dallastown, and Jackie Anthony of Red Lion, Pa.; brothers, Kent Ness and wife, Nan, of Red Lion, and Troy Ness, of Dallastown; grandchildren, Richard White, Johnathan White, Nicholas White, Ella Shoff, and Piper Shoff; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jack Eugene Ness and Flo Marie Ness.

Funeral services will be conducted from Onancock Baptist Church on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m., with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Services will also be held in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m., at the Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA 17356.
