Mr. Fletcher Govan Chalmers III, 78, and a resident of Exmore, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, in Nassawadox. He was the son of the late Fletcher Govan Chalmers Jr. and Lillian Mae Reisert. He was a member of American Legion Post 56 in Cheriton and the Exmore Moose Lodge #683.
Fletcher was self-employed and after retiring enjoyed fishing and boating. He is survived by a brother, Frederick E. Chalmers (Irene); two sisters, Lillian C. Schneider (Ernest), and Jane C. Hickey (Maurice); and his special friend Elsie Hall Bowen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 56 in Cheriton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to American Legion Post 56, P.O. Box 357 Cheriton, VA 23316.
