Ms. Margaret Mapp “Peggy” Nicolls, formerly of Virginia Beach, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore in Onancock.
Born June 7, 1933, in Keller, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Benjamin Nicolls and Mary Dunton Nicolls. She is survived by her cousin, Sandra D. Kennedy, and her dear friend, Esther J. Evans, both of Accomac.
Peggy was a lifelong Episcopalian. Following graduation from Accomac High School in 1950, she continued her education at Mary Washington College, where she attained her undergraduate degree. She completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Virginia, receiving a master of education degree, and she attended the College of William and Mary for predoctoral courses.
Peggy remained passionate in her role as an educator throughout her career as a teacher and administrator. After several decades of shaping young minds, Peggy retired as an elementary school principal in Virginia Beach.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Coniglio officiating. Private interment was held in the Onancock Cemetery.
