Mr. Gordon Lee Sturgis, husband of Faye H. Sturgis, and resident of Exmore, passed away on Oct. 18, 2024. A native of the Eastern Shore, Gordon was the son of the late Stewart Elmer Sturgis Jr. and the late Marion Fletcher Sturgis.

Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Gordon lived his life farming in Accomack County. Gordon was not interested in retiring and farmed until his last moments. Over the years, he enjoyed meeting groups of friends for lunch in local restaurants, chatting with friends who would stop by his farm, or engaging in spontaneous truckside conversations.
Gordon was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Faye H. Sturgis, and his daughters, Heidi Sturgis Zecher (David Zecher), of Herndon, and Lee Sturgis O’Neill (David O’Neill), of Keezletown. Gordon was a devoted grandfather to Joseph Zecher, Sophia Zecher, Isaiah O’Neill, and Miranda O’Neill. Gordon is also survived by his youngest sister, Marilyn Sturgis Loftis (Gary Loftis), of Virginia Beach, as well as many nieces and nephews.
