Mrs. Loretta East, 87, of Melfa, wife of the late Cecil James East, passed away on Sept. 18, 2024, in Parksley.
Born on May 30, 1937, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Clifton Taylor and the late Winnie Fred Taylor. Loretta worked at the R&G Shirt Factory in Parksley until retiring. She loved sewing and cooking, especially baking banana bread for her family and friends. Loretta also loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. Above all, she adored her family and loved God.
Loretta is survived by a sister, Nancy Scott, of Melfa; a nephew, Cliff Scott; great-nephews and great-nieces, Taylor Scott, Laura Beth Long, Hunter Scott, Aaron Scott, Brad Lawson, and Brittany Brophy. She also had many great-great-nephews and nieces who meant the world to her whom she loved with all of her heart.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley with Mark Howard officiating. Interment followed in the Onancock Cemetery.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Arrangements were by the Thornton Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Parksley.
