Mrs. Beverlee Ann Evanoff, 86, of Hacksneck, passed away at Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024. Born Sept. 29, 1937, in Hammond, Ind., she was the daughter of the late William Edward Dorschel and the late Pauline Fern Dorschel.
Although born in Indiana, it was Baltimore that truly shaped Beverlee’s youth. In 1957, she returned to Hammond and became a telephone operator for Indiana Bell. As fate would have it, she met a handsome man named Michael Evanoff, whom she married in 1958, and together they started a family. In 1984, the Evanoff family relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where Beverlee worked as a switchboard operator for the former Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital for more than 15 years. She and Michael enjoyed 55 years of blissful marriage, raising their children and finding contentment in the simple things in life until his passing in 2013.
Beverlee was rarely seen without a spool of yarn or string in her hand. She was always sewing, working on a cross-stitch, crocheting, or completing her latest needlepoint. She loved creating little pieces of art for her loved ones, who cherished receiving them. Beverlee’s love and creativity touched many lives, and a piece of her will live on in every blanket and every framed needlepoint she ever made. She will be deeply missed.
Beverlee is survived by her children, Mark A. Evanoff and his wife, Colleen, of Elkhart, Ind., Debra Crockett and her husband, Craig, of Onley, and Robert W. Evanoff, of Melfa; and her granddaughter, Amanda Baylis. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael Evanoff; son, Michael A. Evanoff; and granddaughter, Megan Baylis.
The family will gather for private interment at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock.
