Mr. Dennis Deering, of Eastville, died peacefully on Dec. 21, 2023. He was predeceased by his father, Elwood Joseph Deering, mother, Virginia Faye Deering, and sister, Debbie Deering.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Inglesby) Deering; his two daughters, Lauren Adelman (partner, Kris Tejada), and Maggie (Deering) Bott (husband, Parker Bott); grandson, Maverick Tejada; his sister, Donna (Deering) Moran and brother-in-law, Chip Moran; niece, Katelin (Moran) Fallon; and nephew, Patrick Moran.

Dennis was born on June 20, 1955, in Fort Dix, N.J. to Elwood Joseph and Virginia Faye Deering. He graduated from Haddon Township High School in 1973. He was inducted into the cross-country hall of fame there in 2002.

He attended Clemson University and later graduated from Stockton University with a degree in environmental science. Dennis began working for the Center for Independent Living in Westville, N.J., where he met Ellen in 1987. They were married in 1992.

He welcomed Ellen’s daughter, Lauren into his family immediately. After two years the couple welcomed their daughter Maggie into their home.

He was a wonderful husband, and his children remember him as a kind, gentle and fun-loving person and father who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Dennis was passionate about the outdoors. He enjoyed stargazing, fishing, and birding. He loved watching baseball and spending time on the back deck watching wildlife and sunsets at Smith Beach.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 30 at Inglesby and Sons funeral home on Cove Road in Pennsauken at 8:30 a.m. with a mass following at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Maple Ave., Merchantville, N.J.
