Mr. Charles William Volkmann Jr., 95, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley. Born Sept. 27, 1928, in Richmond, he was the son of the late Charles William Volkmann Sr. and the late Lossie Wilhelmina Cooke Volkmann.
Charles remained in Richmond throughout his life. As co-owner of Neagle Flexo in Ashland, he worked hard as a salesman and engraver and remained involved in day-to-day operations throughout his tenure. Charles was a Master Mason of the Westhampton Masonic Lodge No. 302 and proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Frances Ann Smellie Volkmann, and son, Charles Kirk Volkmann.
Charles is survived by a son, William “Keith” Volkmann, of Painter; longtime companion, Betty Traylor, of Richmond; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
