Mr. Terry Milton Windsor left this earthly world on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, as the sun was setting over the Chesapeake Bay at his home in Onancock, four days shy of his 69th birthday. Though Terry had faced many challenges over the last several years, his greatest heartache was known in the loss of his daughter, Amanda Hope Windsor, just two weeks prior to his passing. His grief turned to peace and solitude as they were reunited and he felt the warm embrace of his ‘water baby.’

Terry attended Onancock High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving a majority of his time as a mechanic. Following his military service, he returned to his roots and began working as a tugboat cook and later worked as a florist. Whether working, boating, or sitting on his back porch, Terry was happiest when surrounded by the water or when the Miami Dolphins took home a win.

In his younger years, Terry was known to live life full throttle. His charisma, mischievous smile, and signature mustache kept him surrounded by a crowd of friends and always with a pretty girl at his side. There was never a dull moment in Terry’s presence, and once you became his friend, you were friends for life. He loved as fiercely as he lived and would do anything for someone in need without the expectation of praise or reciprocation.

Over the last several years, Terry’s health put his spirit to the test time and time again, yet he was often the one reminding others, “You gotta keep smiling!” His sheer will and determination were a great inspiration to his family and those closest to him as he continued to remain positive through the darkest of days.

Terry was one of four boys born to the late Virginius Milton “Jinks” Windsor and Marion Lee White Windsor of Onancock. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancé, Linda Wheatley; son, Robert Lee “Bobby” Windsor and his wife, Angelica Marie, of Baltimore; brothers, Robert Arnold Windsor, of New Church, Tommy Lee Windsor and his wife, Sallye, of Lewes, Del., and David William Windsor, of Onancock; granddaughter, Bradlee Marie Windsor; grandson, Phillip Walter Hope; nephews, Thomas Warren Windsor (Allison), Andrew David Windsor, and Terry Hamilton Windsor (Rebecca); and his caregiver, Willie Mae Bailey, who has been devoted to his health and well-being for several years.

A funeral service will be held at Onancock Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Andy Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Holly Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m.
