Game 7: North Accomack vs Shore

The Shore Little League Major Softball team defeated North Accomack 10-0 after four innings of play on Saturday, June 24.

Since inclement weather had caused several delays in the District 8 tournament, hosted by Plaza Little League in Virginia Beach, it was decided that the battle between the two Eastern Shore teams would take place at the neutral site of Central Accomack Little League in Onancock as part of an effort to complete the tournament as closely to schedule as possible.

Lela Lusk threw her third consecutive no-hitter of the tournament, allowing two walks and striking out eight.

Caroline Caison was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored. Jordan Rae Lewis laced a line drive over the center fielder and flew around the bases for a two-run inside-the-park home run. Shore batters had 11 hits in the four-inning game, and 10 of the 12 batters in the lineup had a hit.

Championship Game: Princess Anne vs Shore

On Monday, June 26, the Shore Little League Major Softball team was crowned the champion of District 8 after defeating Princess Anne for the second time in the tournament. The game was played at Princess Anne Little League in Virginia Beach. Shore trailed 3-1 in the fourth inning but rallied to score five runs and take the lead. The final score was 7-3.

Lela Lusk gave up her first three hits of the tournament but struck out another 11 batters while allowing three walks.

Caroline Caison was 2-for-2 with a clutch two-run inside-the-park homerun to seal the deal for Shore.

Miranda Smith, Corrin Burrell, and Lela Lusk each had hits for Shore.

Overall, the undefeated Shore team batted .494 for the tournament. Lela Lusk struck out 37 batters in 17 innings of work.

Shore will next travel to compete in the state tournament in Culpepper, which begins on Friday, July 7. The team has a GoFundMe to raise money for travel expenses.
