Mr. Ralph Gerald Smith Sr., 88, of Parksley, husband of Mary Smith, passed away on June 13, 2023, at his residence.
Born on Sept. 6, 1934, in Bedford County, Pa., he was the son of the late Corabelle and Elmer Smith. Ralph was a truck driver and was a very hard working man, no matter what the job. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and was a blessed presence in every church he joined throughout his lifetime.
Other than his wife, Ralph is survived by a daughter, Kathy Smith of Pennsylvania, and her two sons, Joshua and Jacob Vannaken; two sons, Ralph Gerald Smith Jr. of Pennsylvania, and Kevin Smith of Nevada; a sister, Bertha McCall; and a brother, Ronnie Smith. He is also survived by Mary’s children, Bill Edwards (Pam), Linda Forsythe-Leininger (Donnie), and Rickey Edwards (Theresa); Mary’s nephew, Kenny Hornbaker (Holly); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by a son, Richard Smith, eight sisters, and one brother.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 5-7 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
Funeral services will be planned for a later date in Green Castle, Pa.
