Accomack County’s prosecutor is reviewing the police investigation involving a driver whose vehicle hit three members of a family on Nock’s Landing Road near Atlantic, killing a woman.

The Accomack Commonwealth Attorney’s Office will determine if charges are placed against the driver, said State Police spokeswoman Michelle Anaya. No charges had been placed as of Thursday, April 13.

Funeral services will be held for the victim, Erika Cherrelle Bailey, 26, of Atlantic, at noon on Friday, April 21, at Cooper & Humbles Funeral Company, Accomac.

Anaya said she and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Duane Lee Bailey, were on Nock’s Landing Road teaching their daughter, 6, how to ride a bicycle. She said the incident happened at 6:30 p.m.

Bailey was killed upon impact, Anaya said. Turner and the child “suffered serious bodily injuries” and were transported to Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury, she said.

They were struck by a 2021 Honda Pilot sport-utility vehicle driven by Jessica Greenley Waterfield, 36, of Atlantic.

In the vehicle with Waterfield was a 3-year-old passenger, Anaya said. Neither was injured.

“Neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash,” said Anaya.

Waterfield was traveling east in a 40 mph zone, she said.
