Mr. Robert Lee Addison, 77, of Manassas, Va., formerly of the Shore, entered the realm of heavenly slumber on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Tribute at the Glen Memory Care Facility, Woodbridge, Va.

Born in Painter, Robert was the beloved son of the late Levi and Gladys Addison.

Robert attended the public schools of Accomack County and graduated from Mary N. Smith High School in 1963. He then went on to study mechanical engineering at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. After three years of college, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for over two years.

On March 8, 1968, Robert married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine Robinson.  Robert was a lifelong member of Snead’s Memorial United Methodist Church in Keller, where he was a member of the trustees, United Methodist Men, male choir, and Contemporary Gospel Singers choir. He also served as the church’s treasurer, a role he took over after his father’s retirement.

From an early age, Robert worked on his parents’ farm, carrying on a family legacy of dedicated farming. He later worked for Delmarva Power and Light Company for 36 years, retiring as assistant branch manager. Robert was also an active member of various service organizations, serving as president and treasurer of the BW Club, chief elections officer for the town of Keller, and a member of the Lions Club and Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, from the chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. James Nock officiating.  Interment was in the Snead’s Memorial U. M. Church Cemetery, Keller. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories: wife, Geraldine; daughter, Shonae Travers; son, Terrance Addison; brother, Charlie Addison; five grandchildren; goddaughter, Tysha Chambliss; two godbrothers Larry Reid and George Smith, Jr.; uncle, George Smith Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
