On the morning of April 8, 2020, Mrs. Ellen Marie Douglas, 70, of New Church, entered into the gates of heaven. Ellen was born Aug. 26, 1949, a daughter to the late Hurbert Nock and the late Vergie Nock in Bridgeton, N.J.

On July 23, 1966, Ellen married Otis Douglas. In 1969, at the age of 19, Ellen began her career as a food inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

In 1990, Ellen met Ronald Watson and they were married in 1993. In the early 2000s, Ellen began to travel for her job. She served at Perdue Farms, Tyson Foods, Amick Farms, and Mountaire in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.

Ellen was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Wattsville. In 2017, she joined the congregation at House of Prayer United Methodist Church in Bloxom, under the leadership of the Rev. Gregory L. Duncan Sr. She remained a faithful member until her passing.

Due to COVID-19, Ellen Marie’s funeral was held April 17, 2020. The restrictions at the time only allowed relatives to attend. This week’s celebration was planned by her children to honor her life to include her family, friends, and coworkers.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at Dove Pointe, Salisbury, Md., with the Rev. Gregory L. Duncan Sr. officiating.

Ellen Marie leaves to cherish her memories: six children, Terrence Douglas, Toi D. Beckett, Dermetric Douglas, Darren Douglas, Patricia Cropper, and Bonnie Cropper; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Regina Christopher, Sharon Dix, and Linda Palmer; one brother, Bruce Douglas; one goddaughter, Paula Turner; three close friends; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
