The Northampton Yellow Jackets varsity girls basketball team hosted its second home game of the season Monday, Dec. 13. They faced the Surry County Cougars. The Yellow Jackets lost 48-14.

The Yellow Jackets kept the game within reach in the first quarter. They were down 4-0 and then  Aliyah Williams made a free throw to place the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard, shrinking the Cougar’s lead to three points. At the end of the quarter, they trailed the Cougars 10-3.

The Yellow Jackets failed to keep up with the Cougar’s offense in the second quarter. Entering halftime, the team was down 29-5. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets scored nine more points, but it wasn’t enough to get back into the game.

The Yellow Jackets traveled to Windsor High School on Wednesday, Dec. 15, and lost the matchup, 60-5. Their next home game is Tuesday, Jan. 11, against Franklin High School at 5:30 p.m.
