Two Men Arrested After Man Shot in Nelsonia

Staff Report —

Two men were arrested after a man was shot in Nelsonia early on the day after Thanksgiving.
According to Sheriff Todd Wessells, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots fired in the Johnson Court area of Nelsonia around 2:24 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they started checking the area and contacting residents. While they were there, the sheriff’s office received a report of a gunshot victim in the same area.
The 30-year-old victim, who the sheriff did not identify in a press release, was transported to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Hospital. The man was in stable condition as of Monday.
Investigation led to warrants being obtained for Rudy Velazquez Hernandez, 25, of Parksley, and Ulialdo Galindo Aguilar Meji, 23, of Arkansas.
Hernandez is charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm. Meji is charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and aggravated malicious wounding.
Both men are incarcerated in the Accomack County Jail with bond denied.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Department and the Accomack County Department of Public Safety.
