Former Chincoteague Combined School Principal John Killmon, who retired from Accomack County Public Schools effective July 31, has been named principal at Northampton Middle School, the Northampton County School Board has announced.
Killmon has “over three decades of public education experience on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, including more than 20 years of service in school administration,” said Elizabeth Hall, Northampton’s school board communications coordinator, in a prepared release.
He replaces Justin Wheeler, who last month was named Northampton High School’s fourth principal since 2022. Northampton Middle and High schools are housed in the same building in Eastville.
Killmon previously had served as principal at Nandua Middle School before leading Chincoteague Combined School.
Chincoteague Combined School’s new principal is Eric Garcia, who most recently was an middle school principal in Portsmouth.
