Mr. James Percy Via II, died peacefully on March 26, 2026, at his home in Onancock after a valiant battle with COPD.
Born in Alexandria on Jan. 19, 1966, James, known as Jim or Jimmy to friends and family, first came to Onancock in 1993, where he was an instructor at the Eastern Shore School of Hair Design.
He owned and operated the Style-N-Motion salon in Onancock from 1994 until 2003. He did hair and wig design for several shows at the North Street Playhouse, including the first two productions of the musical “Beehive,” where he was affectionately known as “the Beekeeper.”
He also performed in the North Street Playhouse staged reading of “Mothers & Sons,” along with Terry Bliss, his husband, Jim, and his grandson, Joey.
Jim loved to travel, and during their 33 years together he and his husband visited 48 states and nine countries.
Jim was much loved and is survived by his husband and best friend, James J. Szablewicz; his mother, Tina Via; his daughter, Jamie N. Via; his son, James P. Via III (Jenny); and nine grandchildren, Ren Via, Taeshaun Faulkner, Taisha Johnson, Joey Via, Aaliah Johnson, Arissa Johnson, Nariah Johnson, Tavis Johnson Jr., and Adrian McCullough.
He was predeceased by his father, James P. Via, and daughter, Amanda Victoria Via.
Honoring his wishes, there will not be a public service at this time. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
