Mr. Frederick W. Holland, “Freddie,” 80, of New Church, passed away at his residence on Friday, Oct. 3. Born March 19, 1945, in Salisbury, Md., to William and Una Holland, Freddie graduated from Atlantic High School in 1963.
Freddie loved farming and caring for God’s land. He served as president of W.T. Holland & Sons for many years. In addition to his love of farming, he was very active in community affairs. He was a past member of Ruritan of Pocomoke and a member of Beaver Dam Christian Church, where he held the office of elder and was involved with the men’s breakfast for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the New Church Fire Company, having been inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2012. He was leader of the New Church Fourth of July celebrations for many years. As a lifetime member of the Pocomoke Elks Club #1624, he held numerous positions. He was also a past president and a director for the Farm Bureau of Accomack for many years.
His hobbies included being a NASCAR fan, gardening, and fishing.
Freddie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Mason Holland, and a son, Kevin Holland (Cindy), of New Church. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Lori Holland, of New Church; his grandchildren, Olivia Wheaton (James), of New Church, Miranda Holland, of Pocomoke, Claire Holland, of New Church, Ryan Holland (Brittany), of Pocomoke, Lucas Holland (fiancée Tori Bynum), of Pocomoke, and Julianna Holland, of Salisbury. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Wheaton and Maddie Wodkins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Holland, in 2021.
Funeral services were provided by Thornton Funeral Home. Private services were held for the family on Tuesday, Oct. 7, followed by internment at Groton Cemetery in Hallwood.
All are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Pocomoke Elks #1624.
