Mr. Jerol Gordon Fox, 79, a resident of Newark, Del., and formerly of Oak Hall, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Born in Nassawadox, he was the son of the late John Thomas Fox and Phyllis Farmer Fox.
Jerol grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and graduated from Atlantic High School and later from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. He was a member of Temperanceville Masonic Lodge No. 121 AF & AM. He worked for Delmarva Power & Light as a civil engineer.
He transferred from Virginia to Newark with Delmarva Power & Light, where he retired. He also worked for Bloomfield Trucking. After he retired from driving trucks, he became a paralegal later in his life.
He enjoyed working with horses, woodworking, blacksmithing, art, books, and motorcycles.
He spent his last days living in Brookdale Senior Facility in Dover, Del., where he passed onward to heaven.
He is loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his son, James W. Fox; his grandchildren, Staceylynn Tupper, Radonna Mister, James C. Fox, Cameron E. Fox, and Daniel W. Fox; nine great-grandchildren, several cousins, two nephews, and two nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents, John T. and Phyllis Farmer Fox; a sister, Sallyanne Taylor; and a granddaughter, Mikayla Fox.
Friends may join the family at Doughty Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 23, at 1:30 p.m. from the graveside at Downings Cemetery in Oak Hall.
