Ms. Andre Marshall suddenly and peacefully passed away on March 13, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas, surrounded by family. Andre was born on Jan. 30, 1957, in Nassawadox, to parents Owen and Lousie Marshall, of Saxis.
Andre spent most of her life growing up on the eastern shores of Saxis. It was where she learned to shuck oysters that came straight from the bay. Andre also worked for Holly Farms Chicken in Virginia, and lastly, before retiring, she worked at DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Del.
Andre loved spending time with family and traveling. She loved going to Ocean City, Md., and Chincoteague, where she watched and enjoyed the annual Pony Swim and Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company Carnival. She also loved music and attending concerts. Some of her favorite artists included Wynonna Judd, George Strait, and Elvis Presley.
In her later years, she loved watching crime shows and rooting for her Dallas Cowboys. Despite being born and raised in Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles territory, Andre was a die- hard Dallas Cowboys fan and proudly displayed and stated her love for the team. Lastly, Andre had a love for playing bingo, and she would often play with her sister, mother, and friends. In her final years, she obtained a collection of stuffed animals that proudly displayed her bingo accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Louise Marshall; her sister, Marcella Toto; her brother-in-law, Richard Toto; and her niece, Theresa Toto.
She is survived by her brother, JC Marshall (Kristy); her sister-in-law, Peggie Schrader (Jim); her nieces, Laura Semlinger (Todd), Racheal Quinn (Edward), and Rebecca Avello (Enrico H.); her nephews, John Marshall Jr. (Kathy) and James Marshall (Linda); her great-nephews, Ashton Beers, JJ Marshall, JR Marshall, and Chris Aldridge; her great-nieces, Shannon Beers, Casey Avello, Gabriella Loughery, Gillianna Loughery, Gocelyn Quinn, Nicole Aldridge, and Skylar Plumley; her great-great-nephews, Christian Aldridge and Grayson Meyer; and her great-great niece, Addison Tarver.
A memorial service is being held at Legend Oaks New Braunfels Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, March 29. Her final resting place will be in Parksley at a later date.
