On Feb. 6, 2023, Mrs. Deborah Claudine Watson Elmandorf was called home to be with her Heavenly Father at her daughter’s residence in Greenbush. She was born Aug. 28, 1951, a daughter of the late Samuel Floyd Bagwell and the late Nancy Lee Watson in Nassawadox.
“Boogie,” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a 1970 graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. She was employed at the Accomack County nursing home as the head cook until 1998. Boogie later became a substitute teacher for Accomack County Public Schools. In 2007, she took on a new role as grandmother.
At an early age, Boogie joined Adams United Methodist Church in Parksley. As a youth, she sang on the youth choir. As an adult, she assisted with the youth choir, Vacation Bible School, and served on the kitchen committee.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Adams U.M. Church, Parksley, with the Rev. Gregory L. Duncan Sr. officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Sylvester; daughter, Tyki; two grandchildren; five sisters, Thelma, Rhonda, Gwendolyn, Stacy, and Carlotta; four brothers, Calvin, Keith, Vaughn Jr., and Oscar “Pop”; two stepsisters, Yvonne and Debbie; one stepbrother, Mervin; one aunt, Maggie Bagwell; godson, DeAndre Burton; two brothers-in-law, Gregory and Andrew, both of Glassboro, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Donell; mother-in-law, Mary Della Fisher; a nephew she raised as her son, TreVaughn Topping; a cousin who was like a brother, Chico Ayers; an adopted brother, Dwaine Hargis; special friend, Curtis Dix; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
