Mr. James Arthur Bott Jr., 84, passed away on Sept. 2, 2026, in Allentown, Pa.
He was the son of the late James Arthur Bott and Margaret Gilliss Bott and brother of the late William B. Bott. He was born on March 1, 1942, in Martinsville but spent his youth in Seaford, Del., and Jamesville.
Jim was a 1964 graduate of Hamden-Sydney College and a 1968 graduate of Temple University School of Pharmacy, where he served as class president and was a member of Phi Delta Chi.
Jim purchased H&H Pharmacy in downtown Chincoteague in 1970 and, with a loyal staff, began a long career of serving the community of Chincoteague Island and surrounding areas.
Beyond the pharmacy counter, Jim was an active member of many civic organizations, boards, and clubs. He always embraced the belief that people should give back to the community in which they live. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Chincoteague and Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus, Pa.
In his youth, he spent summers on Nassawadox Creek aboard his small speedboat “The Tragedy.” This fostered a great love for the water, which he carried throughout his life.
Jim cherished time with family and friends. In later years, he enjoyed an active retirement between the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Pennsylvania. Jim especially enjoyed the people and activities of Four Seasons Community in Macungie, Pa.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy Carrow Bott; his children, Chris Bott (Christy), of Chincoteague Island, and Kate Boardman (Jeff), of Macungie; his grandchildren, Parker Bott (Maggie), William Bott (Ann-Windsor), Sarah Boardman, Nathan Bott, and Audrey Boardman; his great-grandchild, Miles Bott; and another great-grandchild due in February. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jane Carrow, of Mississippi, and Brigitte Bott, of Jamesville; his nephews, Charles Bott (Caroline) and Wescott Bott (Anne Marie); and four great-nephews, Owen Bott, Connor Bott, Reed Bott, and Carter Bott.
There will be a graveside service in Belle Haven Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m.
