The voice of Accomack and Northampton counties on Virginia’s Eastern Shore

Sue Beasley

Oct 31, 2025 | Obituaries

Mrs. Sue Crosley Beasley, of Onancock, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved husband, Norris Ray Beasley, on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.

Born July 28, 1941, in Monroe, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Roy H. Crosley Sr. and Sarah Margaret Fogle Ellis.

Throughout her childhood, Sue and her family moved often along the East Coast as her father’s career led them to new places. In God’s perfect timing, she met Norris and found her forever home in Onancock.

Sue’s greatest joy in life was found in her relationship with Jesus and the family she so dearly loved. A woman of steadfast faith, she was a founding member of Rock Church of the Eastern Shore, where she joyfully served as pianist and Sunday School teacher for many years. Among her many roles within the church, she most treasured her time teaching at Rock Church Academy during the 1980s through the early 2000s. Through her music, ministry, and teaching she shared the love of Christ with everyone she met, leaving a legacy of faith that continues through her children and grandchildren.

Gifted with many talents, Sue wore countless hats throughout her lifetime — eldest daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, musician, artist, teacher, nursing student, and EMT. She often played the piano at home, filling the house with song and instilling in her children the same joy for music that she cherished. When her girls were young, she devoted herself to guiding and encouraging them, even serving as a Girl Scout leader.

Sue had a heart for all of God’s creation. She especially loved animals, with horses holding a special place in her heart. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel loved and welcomed. Sue’s faith, kindness, and joyful spirit touched countless lives, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Joan Adrion and her husband, Jim, of Salisbury, Md., Mary Vandall, of Melfa, Mary Elizabeth Custis and her husband, E.R., and Benjamin “Ben” Beasley, all of Onancock; her sisters, Nadya Cavaleri and Mary Catherine “Cathy” Crosley; her grandchildren, Chris Beasley (Sam), Roy McCarthy (Jirina), Ray Beasley, Olyvia Barnes, Jenn Hollis (Matt), Rachel Beasley, and Anna Watkins; her special nephew, Kenny Cavaleri (Lelia); several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and many precious cousins.

In addition to her husband of 63 years and her parents, Sue was predeceased by her brother, Roy H. Crosley Jr. and her nephew, Robert Markham “Mark” Cavaleri.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m., with Pastors Paul Nolz and Dustin Guidry officiating. The family will greet friends a half hour prior to the service and invite all to join them for a reception at Rock Church immediately following the service. Private interment will be held at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating.
