Mrs. Lois Jacquelyn “Jackie” Annis, 93, of Parksley and formerly of Guilford, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior and into the arms of her beloved husband, Upshur Annis, and her infant son, whom she met for the first time on Oct. 25, 2025, in Parksley.
Born on Aug. 2, 1932 in Guilford, she was the daughter of the late William H. Young and Lola Lewis Young. Raised in a Christian home, she grew up attending Guilford Church and remained active in her faith her whole life.
In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating and ice skating. She also enjoyed attending church activities, visiting nursing homes, and having conversations with anyone she met. Jackie was a spunky, caring, independent, and talkative soul who never met a stranger and was never forgotten by anyone she met, including her doctors and nurses.
Jackie is survived by sisters-in-law, Judy Simpson Ward and Betty Satchell and her husband, Morris; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Other than her husband and infant son, Jackie was preceded in death by her sisters, Kay German, Estelle Lang, and Ruth Gaulk.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. from the Guilford Church, with Pastor John Cullop officiating. Interment will follow in the Guilford Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Guilford Church, P.O. Box 123, Bloxom, VA 23308, to help with cemetery upkeep.
Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
