Mrs. Helen Catherine Scott, 99, of Chincoteague, passed away at home on Aug. 12, 2025. Born in Milton, Del., in 1925, Helen moved to Chincoteague in 2020 following a hospitalization. She lived with her friends Charlie and Nancy Kupelian until her peaceful passing.
Helen was the daughter of Jesse and Winifred Walls, of Milton. She was preceded in death by twin sisters, Phyllis and Doris. She is survived by her sister Arithea Millman, of Milton. In 1944 Helen married Edward M. Scott III, of Buffalo, N.Y. Edward died in 1985.
Helen was a 1943 graduate of the Milton School. She lived in Niagara Falls and in Tampa, Fla., while Edward was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. Together they operated a service station in Milton and Roxie’s Restaurant, which opened 1971. Helen retired from the restaurant in the early 1990s.
In her retirement, Helen volunteered at a doctor’s office and at the election polls. She was an avid reader and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. She had a great love for dogs. In her last years, she could be found sitting on the front porch with Pepper, the family dog.
