Mrs. Mary Adams Volz passed away on Feb. 4, 2025.
The daughter of Mary E. Hodr and James Adams and stepdaughter of Jerry Hodr (all deceased), she was born in Baltimore on June 11, 1932. Mary was a graduate of The Catholic High School in Baltimore and was employed in the secretarial field.
She and her late husband, Henry, were owners of Center Chevrolet in Exmore for 16 years and Mary managed the office.
Mary was an avid bridge player and loved to read books. For many years she was a cantor at her church, St. Peter the Apostle in Onley, and served in different capacities there, among which were the Pastoral Council, Finance Council and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus.
She is survived by her brother, James Adams, of North Carolina (Linda); her daughters, Elizabeth Volz and Carolyn V. Spalding; her grandchildren, Melissa Outten (John David), R. Todd Hastings and special friend, Luz, Sara Zember (Luke), and Courtney Spalding (Bobby); her great-grandchildren, Emma, Mary, Kinzley, Maxon, Gia, Ridge, Conner, Sarah, Charlie, and Traci; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, J. Henry Volz, and sisters, Thelma Simmonds and Barbara Carder.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Michael Imperial officiating.
