It is with a heavy heart and fond memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Mr. Reade Belote on Sept. 25, 2024. Reade left this world following a brief battle with bone cancer at the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Reade was born on Feb. 8, 1949, in Nassawadox, to Harvey Belote and Mary Goffigon Belote. Reade grew up in the Capeville area, attended Cape Charles School, and graduated from Northampton High School. He then graduated from F.M.A. in Portsmouth, class of 1967.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he came back to Capeville to farm. He served as a Northampton supervisor in the Capeville district for two terms and retired from Sysco Foods. Reade then moved to Canada.
Reade is survived by two children, Harding Belote Jr. and Rachel McKown; a sister, Jan Goffigon Belote; two grandchildren; and his friend and companion, Sue Wirf, who was by his side to comfort him as he left this world.
