Mrs. Maureen Mary Conklin Derrickson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 24, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was born to Henry Winfred and Mary Elizabeth Conklin on March 17, 1936. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Bevis Derrickson, and they were happily married for 69 years.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Derrickson (Rose) and Tom Derrickson (Jacque). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Barbara, Brian (Mary), Kyle (Brooke), Connor (Michelle), and Collin; her great-grandchildren, Anna, Brody, Gunner, Sewell, Charly, and Micah; her brothers, Bob Conklin (Nancy), Harry Conklin (Monika), Richard Conklin (Carolyn), and Gary Conklin; her sister-in-law, Nancy Hall, and lots of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, stepmother, Ellen, and one brother, Thomas Conklin.
Maureen loved spending time with her family most of all. They were her greatest joy in life.
Maureen was employed by multiple financial institutions in Pocomoke City, on Chincoteague Island, and in the Washington area, where she held the position of bank manager.
Maureen was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Christ United Methodist Church on Chincoteague, where the family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was at John Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville. A reception followed at Christ United Methodist Church.
