Mr. George Edward “GE” Bloxom, 76, of Parksley, passed away on March 1, 2024, in Parksley.

Born on July 24, 1947, in Nassawadox, he was the son of the late Clifton Royal Bloxom and the late Georgie Viola Barnes.

George had numerous jobs over the years, always greeting everyone he met with a smile and conversation. He worked at John Ewell’s restaurant in Parksley and the Parksley Drug Store after high school and later worked at numerous grocery stores, including Meatland, Matthews Market, Gargatha General Store, and Royal Farms.

GE was a well known Saturday night radio personality alongside Choppy Layton, playing the “Oldies but Goodies” show. In his younger years he was an avid pool player. He also loved watching NASCAR and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. GE never met a stranger and will be remembered for his genial personality and generous spirit.

George Eddie is survived by two nieces, Susan Bloxom and B.J. Hall; nephew, Douglas Bloxom; cousin, Vicki McCready; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and close friends.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin C. Bloxom, and a nephew, Calvin P. Bloxom.

A celebration of George Eddie’s life will be held Friday, March 8, at 2 p.m. from the Thornton Funeral Home with Stephen Phillips officiating.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
