Mr. Edward Reed “Eddie Boy” Pruitt, 89, resident of Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, formerly of Onancock, passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024. Born April 1, 1934, in Onancock, he was the son of the late Edward Stingles Pruitt and Reba Parks Pruitt.

Following high school graduation in 1953, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in July and proudly served his country until honorable discharge in July of 1957.

A skilled painter, Ed was meticulous and precise and often called on for residential construction jobs. Ed loved people and good conversation, both of which he found during his courier route with Shore Bank and when with his buddies on the golf course or playing cards.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Morris Ray Pruitt, Freddie G. Pruitt, Shirley Godwin, and Elaine Welch.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie Pruitt Joudrey and her husband, Guy, of Salisbury, Md.; as well as several nieces and nephews, including Mark Pruitt Sr. and his wife, Donna, and their family; and childhood friend, Ken Wheatley.

To honor Ed’s wishes, funeral services will be private.
