Mrs. Dorris Mae Kilmon, 96, of Onancock, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living on the Eastern Shore in Onancock. Born in Quinby, on Oct. 30, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Addison Tarr and the late Cedar Mae Tarr.

Always willing to take care of her family above all else, she made sacrifices that only a mother can. She was known for her fabulous cooking skills. Her meals were a testament to her love for her family. She and her husband, Harvey, liked to drop a line in the water and sometimes bring home a fish or two for dinner. Always an explorer, she traveled a lot in her later years. She enjoyed an adventure.

Dorris was a member of Smith’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Quinby. She spent many years there building her relationship with her Lord and Savior.

She moved to Commonwealth Senior Living, where she grew fond of her surroundings and neighbors. Her kind heart and delicious meals will be missed for decades to come.

She is survived by her beloved children, Gerald Chambers (Gina), of Watertown, N.Y., and Donna Kay Williams (Terry), of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Megan, Zachery, Cedar, Kelly, and Christie; great-grandchildren, Lee, Savanna, Ava, and George; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorris was predeceased by her husband, Harvey E. Kilmon; parents, William Addison Tarr and Cedar Mae Tarr; and eight siblings.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Commonwealth Senior Living Facility with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating.
