Mrs. Frances Wise Killmon Mears, 96, of Carrollton, and formerly of Painter, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Yvonne, on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023. Born on Jan. 22, 1927, in Onley, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wise Killmon and the late Della Rae Mears Killmon.

And she wore those titles like a badge of honor.

Lewis III, of Carrollton, Brenda Louise Thompson and husband, Bob, of Woodstock, and Walter Thomas “Tommy” Mears, of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Kelly Marie Allen and husband, Ed, Angela Dawn Thompson, and Harry E. Lewis IV and wife, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Dylan Allen, Emma Lewis, and Alyssa Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, Walter and Della Rae Killmon, and beloved husband, George Thomas Mears, Frances was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Anne George and Sylvia Huffman, and first cousin, Tillie Marshall.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., at the chapel of Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Onancock Cemetery.
