Mr. Benjamin Stuart Justis, 81, of Justisville, husband of Suzanne Lingo Justis, passed away on Nov. 22, 2023, at his residence.

Born on Feb. 23, 1942, in Hunting Creek, Va., he was the son of the late Stuart Justis and the late Nellie Ayres Justis. Known as “Benny the bread man,” he worked for Sunbeam for over 38 years as a route salesman.

Benny enjoyed hunting, fishing, carving ducks, and weaving crab and fish nets. He was a true family man, a dedicated father, and was always involved with his grandchildren, often riding the roads with them. Benny never met a stranger, always taking the time to talk your ear off. If you were close with Benny, he considered you family. He loved the outdoors, loved his family, and loved his church, Calvary United Methodist Church.

Other than his wife, Ben is survived by two sons, Benjamin T. “Tommy” Justis and wife, Karen, of Quinby, and Keith Scott Justis and wife, Betsy, of Justisville; grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Manini, Justin Allen Justis, Janie D’Amico, Andrea Michele Bowman, Chad Shipley, Dustin Stevens, Sarah Elizabeth Justis, Emily Paige Justis, and Kaitlyn Brooke Justis; great-grandchildren, Genevieve Woodford, Parker Woodford, Mina Manini, Baylor Justis, JC and Preston Justis, Peyton D’Amico, Andrew and Annabelle D’Amico, Nyla Agner, Camden Bowman, Landon Shipley, Lyla Shipley, Presley Grim, Everly Stevens, and one on the way; and his beloved dog, Weezy.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Williams and Nancy Edmonson.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at 2 p.m. from Thornton Funeral Home with the Rev. William Jefferson and Pastor Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery in Parksley.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Thornton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 21458 Hopkins Road, Parksley, VA 23421.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
