Mrs. Nanci Lee Whiteley, 79, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice at the Lake on Oct. 23, 2023. Born Nov. 7, 1943 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Chaney.

Nanci worked for Acme Markets for 30 years until her retirement. After that she worked at several stores for the Wicomico County Liquor Control Board. She also had a few side jobs here and there for a little extra “fun money.” You could say she was one hard working woman!

Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, concerts, boating, and gambling, yet nothing compared to her having fun with family and friends.

Nanci is survived by her two daughters, Dawn Llinas, of Salisbury (ex-husband Chris, of Connecticut), and Laura Crockett (Billy), of Parksley; four grandchildren, Chazaq and Elijah Llinas, both of Oregon, Daisey Crockett and Willie Crockett IV (Kaitlyn), of Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Damien Meilhammer and Sadie Estrada-Ramos, of Virginia; her prince charming, John Simms, of Salisbury; and his two daughters, whom she loved dearly, JoAnne Enke and Christinia Broyles.

Other than her parents, Nanci was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Whiteley; his sister, Carolyn and her husband, Delbert Jensen; her sister, Irene “Renee” Wolf; and those who helped guide her through life, former in-laws, Frances and John “Jack” Chaney and Doris and Richard Mullineaux.

A celebration of life will be held at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. The service begins at 2 p.m.

A friends and family gathering will follow at Chucks Backyard adjacent to Back Street Grille, located at 409 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury from 3 to 5 p.m.

Come and tell stories that couldn’t be told at the service, enjoy good food and have a drink for Nanci. She would love it!
