Mr. Maurice James Webb Sr., also known to many as “Reese,” gently entered this earth on Feb. 24, 1957, in Wardtown to Margaret Webb and the late William Webb Sr.

He departed Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023. He answered the call of the Lord and journeyed home to the place that Jesus had prepared for him; where many were waiting, especially his loved ones who had gone before him: sister, Lillie Mae Webb and brother, Charley T. Webb; father-in- law, David A Newble Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Perkins and Deborah Bell.

Maurice graduated from Northampton High School in Eastville and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served 20 years.

While in the military, he met and married Constance Marie Newble, and they had two children: a daughter, Monique Jasmine and a son, Maurice James Webb Jr.

He continued his education at Thomas Nelson Community College and received three associate degrees in computer aided drafting and design, electronics, and electronics technology with specialization in computer engineering technology. Maurice then was employed by Huntington Ingalls, where he really loved working with his coworkers and enjoyed doing the craft his position entailed.

Maurice was a very quiet, wise, calm, honorable, comical, and family-oriented man. He was a great listener and a good friend. He enjoyed family cookouts, family game nights, joking around, fishing, playing cards with his friends from the shipyard, and listening to and singing his “Oldies” music. He spent plenty of time outdoors in his garden, building things, and working on cars. Reese enjoyed football season, especially when his favorite team was playing, the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Washington Redskins. He looked forward to the family vacations, enjoyed long drives to Louisiana to spend time with Constance’s family, and loved eating Cajun cuisine. He was loved and admired by his granddaughters who called him “Poppi.”

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Constance Marie Webb, many memories to cherish. He is also survived by daughter, Monique Jasmine Griffin (Brian), of Newport News; son, Maurice James Webb Jr. (Azaria), of Jacksonville, N.C.; his granddaughters, Brianna, Brina, and Brynn; his mother, Margaret Webb, of Nassawadox; three sisters, Becky Sample (AL), of Williamsburg, Patricia Satchell, of Nassawadox, and Linda Giddens (Gary), of Birdsnest; one brother, William Lee Webb Jr.; sister-in-law, Martha Webb, of Exmore; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Newble; brothers-in-law, David Newble, Ronald Newble, and Louis Newble, all of Lake Charles, La.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and endless friends.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.parklawn-woodfh.com for the Webb family.
