Mrs. Violet Olivia Heath Major, 96, of Boston, Va., was born on Aug. 17, 1927, to the late Joseph E. Heath Sr. and Annie Sample Heath in Craddockville. She entered into eternal rest on Aug. 28, 2023, at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley.
Violet accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. “Ms. Violet,” as she was affectionately known, could be found in church every Sunday praising the Lord. She was the president of the usher board for numerous years.
Violet was educated in the schools of Accomack County. After many years of working various jobs, she retired from the Nandua Seafood Company as one of the fastest crab pickers there.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, from Shiloh Baptist Church, Painter, with the Rev. Dr. Jesse Thomas officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Violet leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Annie Mitchell, Thomas Bailey, Pastor Roland Major Jr., and Earl Major Sr.; sister, Olise Johnson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; special friends/cousins, Jean Parker and Maggie Helen Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
