Mr. Nathan James Godwin, 53, of New Church, passed away on July 26, 2023, at his residence.
Born on Feb. 5, 1970, in Nassawadox, he was the son of Raymond E. “Bozo” Godwin Sr. and Barbara J. Taylor Godwin.
Nathan graduated from Arcadia High School in 1988. He was an accomplished captain and waterman, always working hard at the job he loved. Known for his caring, giving, joyful personality, Nathan was often the life of the party. He could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. He loved his job, loved socializing, and loved life.
Other than his parents, Nathan is survived by two sons, Zackary Godwin and wife, Kinsley, of Hawaii, and Gage Godwin, of Assawoman; a sister, Joanna “Josie” G. Williams; nephews, Tyler Williams, Brock Williams, and Dustin Godwin; and a niece, Danielle Godwin.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Godwin Jr.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at Creek Point in Saxis.
Arrangements were by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
