Mrs. Margaret Ann King, 78, of Tangier, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Shore Health & Rehabilitation Center in Parksley. Born in King George, Va., on Feb. 20, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Griffith Northern Bell and the late Gertrude Anne (Staples) Bell.

Margaret was known for her strong work ethic, love of animals, and quick-witted humor. She had a passion for crafting and took great pride in her creativity, often selling her embroidery in local gift shops. Margaret had a fondness for sending handwritten notes to the sick and bereaved, and you could count on hers to be the first Christmas card received.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy K. Pruitt, and her husband, Weldon, of Tangier; son, Robert “Bobby” Wilson King Jr., of Tangier; two grandchildren, Erin Lee Owens and her husband, Bryant, of Crisfield, Md., and Trey Pruitt, of Keller; three great-grandchildren, Tucker Pruitt, Clayton Owens, and Calvin Lee Owens; sister-in-law, Ethel Bell; several nephews and cousins; and many special neighbors, all of whom became family over the years.

Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Wilson King Sr., and brothers, Billy, Irving, and Leonard Bell, and Albert Lucas.

A graveside service was held at the Historyland Memorial Park in King George on Tuesday, June 27, at 1 p.m.

A memorial service will be conducted from the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church, on Tangier, at a later date.
