Mrs. Helen Marie Denson, 80, of Bloxom, wife of the late Daniel William Denson, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023, at her residence in Bloxom.
Born on Sept. 28, 1942, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late James Robert Boone Sr. and the late Margaret Hilton Ewell. Helen was a waitress for many years at various Holiday Inn locations and Don’s Seafood on Chincoteague.
She loved feeding and watching birds on her back deck and adored her pets, Annabelle and Abigail. Most days you could find Helen at home watching her favorite show, The Andy Griffith Show, of which she had every episode memorized.
Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would start the countdown just about 12 months in advance. Helen would consider herself Elvis’s No. 1 fan and had quite the extensive memorabilia collection.
Helen is survived by a son, Curtis Sharpe and wife, Janet, of Bloxom; a stepson, Steve Denson of Chesapeake; two granddaughters, Christina Sharpe (Shane) and Kimberly Hill (Colby); two grandsons, Jeff Denson and William Denson; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Addison, and Ensley; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Other than her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Boone Jr., sister, Virginia Haywood, and a stepson, Danny Denson (Beth).
Funeral services will be private. In honor of her love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA, P.O. Box 164 Onley, VA 23418
Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
