Mrs. Rosalie Marshall Taylor, 89, of Parksley, wife of the late Dorsey Lee Taylor Sr., passed away on Feb. 15, 2023.

Born on April 13, 1933, in Sanford, she was the daughter of the late Randolf and Miriam Williams. She was one of 8 eight children and the youngest and last living child.
Rosalie was a lifetime member of Hall’s Chapel Church. Being with her church family meant the world to her, aside from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved nothing more than to “snug” on a new grand-baby and she had plenty – especially great-grand-babies! She enjoyed shopping trips that always had to involve stopping to get a bite, summertime carnival bingo, kitty cats, and good old Coca-Cola was a must. Mama or Mama Darlin’, as she was affectionately known, will forever be in our hearts. She will be missed dearly, but her time on Earth is finished and has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Survivors include her son, Earl Oscar Marshall III and spouse, Vicky Pruitt, of Exmore; grandchildren, Marc Anthony Marshall and wife, Hayley, and their children, Jessica, Jude, Penelope, and Lucy of Lafayette, La., Christopher Shawn Marshall and son, Kyle, of Asheboro, N.C., Terry Lee Marshall and wife, Jeana, and their children, Erica, Allen, and Brandon, of Augusta, Ga., Amber Lace Marshall and fiancé, Josh Williams, and their children, Allison, Lily, Baylie, and Bentley, of New Church, Ashley Marie Ayers, of Greenbackville; one great-great granddaughter, Melody Rose Cummings; and many nieces and nephews, Lawrence Ayers of Sanford, Faye Ward of Salisbury, Md., and A.W Williams of Saxis, just to name a few.

Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by Earl Oscar Marshall Jr., her first husband and father to her children; Dorsey Taylor, her second husband; a son, Terry Lee Marshall Sr.; daughters, Annette Marshall and Lavenia Ayres; daughter-in-law, Karen Yvonne Marshall; her sister, Irene Ayers; her six brothers; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Williams.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at noon from the graveside of the Downing’s Cemetery.

The family received friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
