Mrs. Karen V. Poulson, 53, of Painter, departed this life Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley.

Born in Belle Haven, Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Francis H. Rogers and the late Ellen F. Bailey.

Karen entered the workforce upon graduation and held several positions throughout her life. In recent years, she began working for the Community Service Board (CSB) in Exmore. She held this position until her health began to fail.

On Aug. 16, 2008, she married Kelvin L. Poulson Sr. This union was blessed with 14 years of love, until her untimely passing.

At an early age, Karen joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wardtown. Karen served as the vice president of the Women’s Ministry of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland Baptist Association. She also served on the Women’s Ministry of the Baptist General Convention (BGC).

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Wardtown, with the Rev. Milton P. Bunting officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Kelvin L. Poulson Sr.; son, Marcus A. Rogers; six grandchildren; siblings, Alice James, Francis Bailey, John Rogers, Alvin Rogers, Brenda Bailey, George Rogers, Allene Williams, William Rogers, and Anthony Rogers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
