Mrs. Roxie V. Morris, 85, of New Church, transcended from labor to reward on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
Born in Horntown, she is the beloved daughter of the late Mannon and Ella Townsend.
Roxie was educated in Accomack County. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown. Roxie was a faithful servant for the Lord until her health began to decline. She was a consecrated deaconess and sang on the Pastors Aide Choir.
In September of 1955, Roxie met Calvin Lee Morris, and from this union five beautiful daughters blossomed. Roxie lived a blessed life and was very spoiled.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. Lisa C. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Tabernacle Baptist Cemetery, Horntown.
Left to carry the baton to this race called life is her husband of 66 years, Calvin Lee Morris; children, Carolyn Hinmon, Deborah Hall, Delores Henry, Leslie Holden, and Corey Morris; eight grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Hazel Marshall and Annie Mae Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Catherine Townsend and Annette Townsend; son-in-law, Stephan White; telephone buddies and friends, Deaconess Dorothy Cropper and Tomisha Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
