Mrs. Delois A. Jacobs, 73, of Onancock, departed this life on June 12, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.

Delois Ann Ames Jacobs was born Nov. 11, 1947, to Rossie Lee Ames and Mary Susan Snead Ames, in Pungoteague. Many affectionately knew her as “Lois” and she was “Baby” to her husband.

Delois began her education in the Accomack County Public Schools and was a graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. She held various jobs over the years, but enjoyed her time at AT&T, General Electric, and the Board of Education in New York.

In 2000, Delois was joined in holy matrimony to Edward “Lucky” Jacobs at First Baptist Church in East Elmhurst, N.Y.

Delois joined Gospel Temple in 2007, under the guidance of the Rev. Lewis Brim. She was a deaconess and a member of the kitchen committee. In life, she never met a stranger. All who knew and loved her will miss her loving spirit.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Keller, with the Rev. Percell Widgeon officiating. Interment was in the Adams U.M. Church Cemetery, Parksley.

Left to treasure fond memories are: her husband, Edward “Lucky” Jacobs; one son, Ross Davis; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Jacobs; three sisters, Sharon McClinton, Laura Umphrey, and Helen Davis; brother, George Ames; two sisters-in-law, Vera Ames and Ella Ames; three grandsons; four granddaughters; four aunts; one uncle; two godsons, Isaiah Nock and Robert Patrick; special nieces, Monique Tirado and Tayannia Ames; special nephew, Aaron Umphrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
