Yellow Jackets Fall to Firebirds

The Northampton Yellow Jackets baseball team traveled to Arcadia for its first meeting with the Firebirds this season on April 28. The Firebirds took its first district win, defeating Northampton with a final score of 14-2.

Nathan Barnes was on fire at the plate for Arcadia recording eight RBIs with a double in the first, a home run in the third, a fielder’s choice in the fifth, and a grand slam in the sixth. Barnes led the team on offense going 3-for-5. Landon Fuller, Austin Farrow, Zach Giddens, and Carson Lucy each recorded a hit in the game as well. 

Cody Hansen started on the mound for the Firebirds and earned the big district win. Hansen allowed only two hits and two runs over five innings of work, striking out 11. 

Northampton’s Alex Courtney led the Yellow Jackets on offense going 1-for-1 with one RBI. CJ Chapman gave four innings on the mound for Northampton. Chapman allowed six hits, seven runs, and five walks with six strikeouts.
