The Chincoteague Ponies varsity softball team traveled to Arcadia on Tuesday, April 26, to compete.

The Firebirds could not stop the hot Chincoteague bats as they continued to score in the third and the sixth inning. Arcadia was able to string together a few hits throughout the game to score a total of four runs but it was not enough to take down the tough Chincoteague team. The Ponies recorded another victory with a final score of 14-4.

Emma Jackson led the Ponies on offense going 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in the first inning and an in the park home run in the sixth. Alex McComb also had a successful day at the plate going 2-for-3.

Alex McComb earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete six-inning game. McComb allowed four runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one.

Arcadia’s offense was led by Savannah McDonald and Bella Williams, who each recorded multiple hits for the Firebirds. Sydney Jester took the loss allowing six hits and 10 runs, striking out four in four innings of work.

Chincoteague softball continues its undefeated season, extending its record to 8-0. The team competed again on Thursday afternoon against Nandua in Onley. Arcadia was scheduled to face the Northampton Yellow Jackets at home on Thursday.
