The Chincoteague varsity baseball team traveled to Arcadia on Tuesday, April 5, for its first district game of the season.

The game was tied at 3 with the Chincoteague Ponies batting in the top of the sixth. John Holloway came up to bat with a runner on first base. Holloway hit a hard single to shortstop, advancing the runner to second and beating out the throw. A wild pitch set up the Ponies with runners in scoring position at second and third with Marcello Rosanova up to bat. Rosanova grounded out to shortstop, allowing Tanner Binder to score, giving Chincoteague the lead.

Wyatt Revell kept the Ponies rolling hitting a double and scoring Holloway. Chincoteague was in the lead 5-3 in the middle of the sixth. Arcadia was able to scratch across one run in the bottom of the sixth but were unable to respond to the hot bats of Chincoteague. The ponies tallied a total of nine hits in the 5-4 victory. Revell and Holloway each had multiple hits, while Revell went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles.

For Arcadia, Landon Fuller started off on the mound giving the team five innings of work. He allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out 10. Tyler Padgett and Carson Lucy entered the games as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-third of an inning respectively.

Revell was on the hill for Chincoteague, for three and a third inning. He surrendered only two runs on zero hits, striking out six. Konner McComb and Jacob Sneeringer entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief. Chincoteague extends its record to 2-2 with the victory over Arcadia.
